Training in Hollywood

Wow, what an eventful week! I had the pleasure of spending the last 4 days down in Hollywood doing some training. It was a blast, I took my wife and kids with me and got to do some fun things with them on my off time, like the L.A. Zoo, La Brea Tar Pits, Hollywood Blvd, etc. I also got to attend the Cinegears Expo on the Universal Studios backlot.

The main reason for the trip was to get Steadicam training from Steadicam themselves. It was a BLAST and I learned so much. I'm really excited to use these new skills on future productions. While I was there I got to meet the man himself, Garret Brown, the inventor of the Steadicam system. He also happens to be or world renown cinematographer and Academy Award winner! He was kind enough to let me snap a picture with him and even offer me a few tips! Just a little side information, the rig I'm wearing (Steadicam with 35mm Movie Camera) is worth significantly more than what my house was worth at the hight of the real-estate market boom.
